Encouragers and Mentors

Leadership Team Devotion - June 2010

Getting Started

  1. Who has been an encourager to you?
  2. Have you ever been a mentor to someone else?

Background

Everyone needs a little encouragement from time to time. That encouragement often comes in the form of a mentor who walks with us in the learning process.

  1. Three of the most well known encouragers/mentors in the Scriptures are Barnabas, and Priscilla and Aquila. What do these passages tell us about them?
  2. Can you think of other encouragers/mentors in the Scriptures?
  3. In Homer’s Odyssey (900-810BC), Odysseus entrusts the education of his son Telemachus to his friend, Mentor. Today a mentor/encourager is a trusted counselor, guide, or helper of others. How is this reflected in encouragers and mentors within the Church?
  4. How can you be a mentor/encourager to others on your Ministry Team?

Closing Prayer

Words of encouragement for those around you.
