Family Bridge
Interfaith Hospitality Network
Family Bridge
| | Family Bridge provides overnight housing for families who are homeless. It is a non-sectarian shelter program that is not affiliated with or limited to a specific religious denomination. It is sponsored by a group of Inter-Faith Communities that adopt a Family Shelter and host families overnight in their building for one week at a time usually every two or three months. |
Sweet Tomatoes Hosts Fundraiser
November 15 through December 15, guests can purchase Sweet Tomatoes’ chocolate chip cookies for $2.00 and 100% of the proceeds will go to Family Bridge. With each bag of cookies purchased, guests will receive a “buy on, get one free” meal coupon. For further information visit Sweet Tomatoes.
How it works
Host congregations recruit volunteers to serve as overnight hosts to provide shelter, meals and support to families without homes. Family Bridge currently has eight host church sites that serve three families at a time. There are still more than 50 homeless families now who are not being helped.
A network of local churches staff a sleeping shelter and provide an evening meal for the families. Calvary Lutheran provides the sleeping and eating place and Trinity is asked to provide some of the other needed services. While Trinity is not able to provide shelter at this time, we support Calvary's ministry with transportation and volunteers. We would like to provide volunteers to help with this outreach one week at a time on a regular six-week basis.
You can help by being a volunteer
A background check is required for overnight hosts. Drivers must provide a copy of a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Gifts of milk, juice and fruit are appreciated on Sunday and mid-week so families may have something for breakfast when they return to Family Bridge House.
Please let Pastor Bruce know if you are willing to help.
