Plan Your Summer With Trinity!

As the weather warms up, many of us are looking forward to camping, vacations and getaways planned .   It’s the season for being outside, enjoying the warm sunshine and spending the long days with family and friends.

Here at Trinity, things seem to slow down over the summer, but there are a few key events to keep things moving such as VBS and the 4th of July parade, the church camp out and Camp Tilikum.  Every year I look forward to the tremendous energy during these events. I have been very fortunate to participate in these events every year and I am blown away by God’s hand in making each event an amazing opportunity to witness His love to the community of Hillsboro.

VBS and Sports Ministry June 21-25

We had another fantastic Vacation Bible School for children ages preschool through 4th grade. The children had a “High Seas Adventure” including fun games, singing, crafts, games, snacks and learning more about God’s love for them.  In addition to VBS, we had a Sports Ministry during the same days, for 5th - 8th graders which included fun playing soccer and volleyball.  Both these ministries were great opportunities for us to extend invitations to our neighbors, friends’ kids, nephews, nieces and grandchildren.  In addition to having all these children involved, both these ministries depend heavily on volunteers.   Thank you

Church Campout August 11-15

Another long-standing tradition at Trinity is the annual church campout. This is another fantastic opportunity for family fellowship, potluck, campfires and great entertainment for all ages.  We are staying at a new site this year and are excited about the fun adventures to be had and new memories to be made. 

Camp Tilikum August 16-20

Finally, we have a day camp at Camp Tilikum. Trinity will provide transportation for 40 kids (entering 1st - 6th) for the week-long day camp where they will spend time making new friends, enjoying the outdoors, and being affirmed in their faith.  Registration packets are available here and in the information center. 

Camping out at Preschool August 16 - 20

Trinity Lutheran Preschool is offering four days filled with fun and adventure for children 4 & 5 years old. We’ll be camping out at the preschool and exploring God’s word up on the mountain top, down by the river, through the forest and at the seashore. You can find registration forms here, at the information center, and in the church office. Cost is $70. Class size is limited to 20 kids with two teachers (Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Bernards).

As you and your family plan your summer activities keep in mind the many opportunities to volunteer, offer fellowship and have fun while spreading the Good News.   Yes, summer is a very busy time in most households but plan to join us at Trinity for fun, laughter, fellowship and growing in Christ.  May your summer be filled with many warm days, cool evenings and spending time in God’s creation.
